Murakamis and Courbet Similarities and Differences

Courbet's project and Murakami's similarities and differences

Murakami's and Courbet are expressing what society had to overcome. Both artist are making very different statements of the society and culture in very distinct period of time .
Courbet Western style painting captures the rural and contemporary society of the 1850. This rural class struggled to get their needs meet. They were a hard-working class that depend on their hard labor to live. The painting show a realistic view of social mores. As, in his painting it demonstrates a young boy and older man breaking stone .
Which clearly states that neither of them are fit for this kind of labor. As shown in the painting the older man can barely handle the hammer and the young boy cant barely lift up the bucket. Courbet painting reflects a more direct use and understanding of realism. Which can be appreciated on the image and the use of color and tonality.
Murakami's sculpture is also portraying political and social struggles , but particularly in Japanese society.  His art represents as an index as a  abstract dark cloud rises to the sky which reflects the atomic bomb in Japan an ending product of WWII. Which lead to struggles withing society and changed their political system and views. The sculpture take a direct and clear representation of the people that experience and struggles after WWII
Murakami's art piece which was inspired by the visual culture of Japan and combines them with western contemporary art ideas. Which techinique such as magna  turn  that art work into a cartoonist approach into a “post-Japonisme” Murakami's style is cartoonist, nerdy, abstract, cute  but with a modern twist. He turns struggles that people where over passing at that time into a cartoonist form making that art piece play full, colorfull and also with a sense of imagination

What meaning do you arises from the contact?

In placing Murakami's art in Versailles it brings a new concept of popular art by making a powerful statement. Murakami's presenting his modern art piece in Versailles is a huge accompleshment. As well as, a huge achievement as the only Japanese artist at Versailles. He states a new approach of art in combining Oriental and Western art techniques and ideas and making it his own creation. By showing it in Versailles,It present a new art movement and technique to the world. It is also making his art pieces have the chance to be express differently as every viewers have their own takes, apporach on the piece or different meaning.Having his art surrounded by western art it makes it stand out from the other art work been that is very different from other art pieces present in Versailles. Having a sculpture as big as Murakami's which as strong tonality of colors such as the gold, reds, and black. It makes it a focal point and overlaps other work of art surrounding it. Almost not giving justices or presence to the other pieces of art which where produce by prestigious artist.
